Intermediate Apprenticeship Level 2

Competence Qualification

3 Units from Performing Engineering Operations - NVQ Level 2 (this forms part of the day release course)
Plus one of the following NVQ's at Level 2:

  • Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering
  • Fabrication and Welding Engineering
  • Engineering Maintenance and Installation
  • Materials Processing and Finishing
  • Technical Services

Knowledge Qualification

Day release further education course at Level 2. One of the following:

  • City and Guilds in chosen route
  • BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Engineering

Transferable Skills

Either
Key Skills at Level 1 in the following subjects:

  • Application of Number
  • Communication
  • Information and Communication Technology

Or
Function Skills at Level 1 in the following subjects:

  • Mathematics
  • English
  • Information and Communication Technology

Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3

Competence Qualification

6 Units from Performing Engineering Operations - NVQ Level 2 (these units are studied as part of a block release course)
Plus one of the following NVQ's at Level 3:

  • Engineering Maintenance
  • Fabrication and Welding Engineering
  • Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering
  • Materials Processing and Finishing
  • Engineering Technical Support
  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering
  • Engineering Tool making

Knowledge Qualification

One release further education course at Level 3
One of the following:

  • City and Guild in chosen route (may need to complete Level 2 before progressing to Level 3)
  • Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Diploma in chosen route

Financial Information

Funding

Funding is available for all Apprentices who start their training before their 25th birthday.

Off the Job Training

The block release and day release elements of the Apprenticeship are undertaken either at a College or at another training centre. Employers of Apprentices attending the Skills Centre are charged a fee for Registration and Certification.
Employers of Apprentices attending a College are responsible for paying the full fees to the college and on successful completion of the course (depending on funding at the time) may receive a grant towards the training costs.
